About Gonje

A delivery platform built around local shops

Gonje connects people with the restaurants, grocers and specialty suppliers already in their neighbourhood, and gives those businesses a way to sell online without building the machinery themselves.

Our mission

Empowering local businesses and SMEs with digital and data transformative solutions and services, enriching the lives of the community.

What we do

Two sides of the same street

A shopping trolley filled with fresh fruit, vegetables and pantry staples.

Gonje runs a marketplace where independent Australian businesses sell directly to customers nearby. Restaurants send meals out hot, grocers fill weekly shops, and specialty suppliers stock the things that are hard to find in one place: halal, kosher, organic, gluten free, baby essentials.

Customers order for delivery (30–60 minutes for most food, within 24 hours for groceries) or collect from a designated pickup centre. Vendors get a storefront, fulfilment, promotion and payouts, on a plan that starts free.

Gonje operates nationwide as both a SaaS company and a frontier for ethnic goods, thus much of what we carry reflects the communities around us. We support multicultural food businesses and back local cultural events, including African music and cultural festivals.

What we hold to

How we work

  • Local first

We'd rather have the good shop three suburbs over than a national chain. Vendors set their own range and prices.

  • Community over scale

Our differentiation isn't fleet size. It's the relationships we have with the businesses and communities we serve.

  • Straight answers

Published delivery windows, published vendor commission, published fees. No surprises at checkout or at settlement.

  • Room for the specific

Dietary, cultural and specialty ranges aren't an afterthought category. They're a large part of why people use us.

Who's behind it

The people running Gonje

  • Tony Onwude

    Tony Onwude

    Founder & CEO

Tony founded Gonje to give local, independent food businesses the same reach and tools as the big chains, without asking them to give up what makes them independent. He leads the company's overall direction and strategy.
